Outcomes

The project worked because every metric tied back to a civic outcome.

Apolitico needed to make election data easier to understand before voters went to the polls. The work combined product design, data modeling, quiz logic, responsive interface design, and a fast static architecture that could handle sudden attention.

921,000+

Outcomes that mattered

The platform grew from zero to more than 65,000 voters in the first month after launch. Voters used it to compare parties, understand policy positions, and complete a scored quiz before election day.

The quiz converted curiosity into 12,521 fully scored matches. Candidate and admin dashboards made updates manageable, while the static architecture sustained 921K civic data requests without downtime.

Traffic stayed meaningfully local, with roughly 85% of visitors inside Costa Rica and enough global attention to make the project visible outside the election cycle.

Engagement

Momentum without a media buy.

The quiz anchored the experience. Voters trusted the transparent scoring, shared matches across social, and funneled friends back into the product.
